Riserva forestale

Mountain Information

The path from lake Cama to the village winds down to the end of the valley, which is in the heart of the Val Cama and Val Leggia nature reserve. Established in 2007, this is the biggest forest reserve in Switzerland outside the Engadin national park. Woods of resinous trees (firs) give way first to beeches and then lower down to chestnuts. Felling trees, pasturing livestock and gathering deadwood are all prohibited within the forest reserve; the only public access to the reserve is via the marked footpaths.
